Helpful Beginnings

Christine Metrano-Barber, RN
Postpartum Doula

About Me

My name is Christine Metrano-Barber.  I live in Manchester-by-the-Sea in Massachusetts. A mom/stepmom to six amazing kids, I also have a three-year-old granddaughter.  I have spent the last twenty years as an RN in the field of neonatal intensive care (NICU), postpartum care and maternal child VNA.

I am excited to share my experience as a Postpartum Doula with new families in the North Shore area. I remember when I would discharge families from the hospital, parents would have the “deer in the headlight look” as they walked out the door.  I always felt that there needed to be a bridge between the safety of the hospital and the great unknown, otherwise known as life on your own at home with this little bundle of joy.

There are many books that you can read to help prepare you for your new adventure, but none are tailored made for you and your new family. With Helpful Beginnings, you can receive the help you need to adjust to life at home.  Please browse our website and see what services we can provide for you.

Congratulations and welcome to this amazing journey called Parenthood!

Testimonials

I met Christine 6 years ago when my daughter was transferred to the special care unit at Beverly Hospital. My daughter was born 10 weeks early and my husband and I were terrified. Christine was an angel sent to us from above! She always went above and beyond, from the tender loving care that she gave my delicate daughter, a shoulder to cry on for me, and a coach to show me how to care for my tiny little baby. She was also there for my baby girl when I couldn't be. I trusted Christine with the most important thing in my life. My child. I would highly recommend Christine for any care with children. She is a valuable asset to any new parent with a healthy or a sick child. Her nursing skills are unsurpassed . I feel blessed to have met her during the toughest experience of my life.
She will always hold a special place in my heart.
